Welcome to North American Union News. The North American Union is a theoretical regional union of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The structure is possibly similar in structure to the European Union, and proponents sometimes also call for a common currency, called the Amero.
While the idea of regional integration has been discussed, proposed, and debated in academic, business and political circles for many decades, government officials from the nations say there are no plans to create such a union and no agreement to do so has been signed. Of the three leaders at the 2005 founding of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, (comprised of American president George W. Bush, Canadian prime minister Paul Martin and Mexican president Vicente Fox), and the three subsequent leaders (American president Barack Obama, Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper and Mexican president Felipe Calderón), only Fox has expressed a desire for a North American Union-style body.
Because of the supranationalism which it entails, the formation of a North American Union has also been the subject of various conspiracy theories. North American Union News reports on all sides of the issue. Thank you for visiting and supporting this important website – North American Union News.
