While it may seem that that President Obama is doing everything he can to save the economy, create more jobs, and put more strength into the world's hope for the future, both Democrats and Republicans on both sides of the aisle are getting nervous about the actions that President Obama has taken and will be taking in the near future. One has to question whether President Obama is doing enough for the economy.
According to George W. Bush, we are fighting in Iraq to "secure the peace" and, to "secure freedom and democracy". Is there any historical or other rational reason to believe this? If war can secure peace then why, after 10,000 years of war, isn't there peace on earth by now?
I know it's just a figure of speech. Voting booths don't operate by levers anymore. You either press buttons or punch out the little chads (Are they even legal these days?) or fill out a paper ballot. The important thing is that you DO IT!
Congress says things aren't going as well as they could be. They downplay positive news. They say growth is still a long way off. They dismiss positive economic data and put on a sour face when addressing the public. Our members of Congress all claim to support fiscal responsibility. But, they sure don't act like it. The Defense Department says they don't need these new jets. Since when is spending $550 million on something you don't need fiscally responsible?
North Korea and diplomatic games; something has to give and negotiating with those who renege on promises in treaties is a problematic issue for the United States. Here are some additional random thoughts on this issue which span a few years of off and on thinking on the matter.
